PLANE FLOWN OUT

ENFORCED STAY AT BIG BAY ENDED . AFFECTED BY CORROSION The Percival Proctor aircraft belonging to Southern Scenic Air Trips, Ltd. which has been stranded at Big Bay since October 29, was flown out on Saturday morning by Mr F. J. Lucas manager of the company. The plane will be sent to Christchurch for inspection before it returns to service. For about the last four days the Auster aircraft which was recently forced down in the Lammerlaws range and had to undergo repairs, has been operating in the companys’ whitebait trade from the Big Bay. By telephone from Queenstown last night Mr Lucas said that he had flown out the Proctor about 5.30 in the morning. The South Canterbury Aero Club’s Tiger Moth, which brought spare parts to the damaged aircraft on November 4, was still at Big Bay. Salt water had caused fairly extensive corrosion to the Proctor during its inactivity on the beach. Mr Lucas added that the other Proctor owned by Southern Scenic Air Trips. Ltd., was expected to be ready for service within a fortnight. Meanwhile, he was flying the Auster with whitebait supplies.
