DX CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING OF BRANCH The monthly meeting of tire Otago branch of the New Zealand DX Club was held on Friday evening. Mr J- L Martin presiding. The final arrangements were completed for the Otago Centennial DX Contest, which will commence on January 1. The contest, open to any DX-ers resident in New Zealand, will take the form of a combined broadcast and shortwave band competition, points being given for stations in the various zones and their power rating. The contest will end on November 30, 1948. The latest news of overseas stations was given in a talk by Mr J. F. Fox. who also advised members that the New Zealand shortwave stations at 'Wellington had been heard testing during the past week. The stations used have been ZL~ (9540 kilocycles), ZL3 (11,780 kilocycle?), and ZL4 (15,280 kilocycles). It is expected that the New Zealand Broadcasting Service will commence regular shortwave programmes in the near future. The competition results of the month were as follows:—Broadcast: North America, senior section, WWNR Beckley, W Va. M. S. Lamont: WSPB Sarasota, Fla K. A. Mackey. Junior section: KGMB Honolulu, Hawaii, A. Rackley. Australia: 4QS Brisbane, J. Stenhouse. Shortwave: Senior section, ZAA Tirana, Albania. J. F. Fox- .iunior section, OLR3A Prague, Czechoslovakia, D. J. Longstaff. Amateurs: W4AVS Capleville, Tennessee, J. I. Martin.
