NOTES FROM RICCARTON
MATADOR DESTROYED Special to the Daily TimeSj CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 14. When Matador fell while schooling over hurdles this week he injured one of his knees and it has been found necessary to destroy him. He was a six-year-old by Ringmaster and was a half-brother to the Derby winner, Battledress. He was, however, a disappointment, as he had not won a race since February of last year. The Neptune filly, Sweet Nymph, who has arrived from Hastings, has engagements in the Derby and Oaks. She was placed five times last season, while this season she has had one win, two seconds and two thirds. The scratching of King’s Ransom for the New Zealand Cup is no surprise, as it was reported from the North Island last week that he was not likely, to start. Indian Dawn has 8.9, not 8.5, in the Riccarton Handicap, while Pimbico, 8.12, was omitted from the Apprentices’ Handicap.
