FRIENDLY BAY

Annual Meeting of Society The report and balance sheet were adopted at the annual meeting of the Friendly Bay Improvement Society on Thursday night. The following officebearers were elected for the ensuing term:—Patrons —Messrs Douglas Reid, N. C. Gilchrist, J. E. McDlarmid aijd H. B.

Burton; president, M r J. M. Henderson; vice-president, Mr J. Stevenson; treasurer, Mr E, Coker; secretary, Mr A. C. McPherson; chairman of works, Mr A. F. Stock; committee —Messrs C. Crisp, R. J. Hine, E. Elder, R. J. Wilson, P. Selfe, A. Bain, G. Bell, W. Burns. C. Ormandy, and S. Woodley; Works Committee—Messrs A. F. Stock, W. Burns, S. Woodley and C. Crisp; honorary solicitor, Mr A. Hamilton: honorary auditors, Messrs C. G. Meikle and Co. A motion of appreciation was passed to Mr J. Symon for his excellent work at the bay, and he was congratulated on the appearance of the grounds and surroundings. Mr G. Williamson was also warmly thanked for his interest in the bay, and best wishes were extended to him and Mrs Williamson in their new home at Waikouaiti. Mr Coker, on behalf of members, presented Mr Williamsonwith a reading lamp, and he was elected a life member of the society. There was some discussion on vandalism at the bay, the fountain having been recently damaged, and it was agreed to re-erect it in concrete.
