SOUTHLAND MEETING

FOUR CUP CANDIDATES Special to the Daily Times INVERCARGILL, Nov. 13.

Prospects are for fine weather and a fast track for the spring meeting of the Southland Racing Club on Saturday. The presence of four New Zealand Cup candidates, particularly Boolamskee and Salmon Spear, in the Southland Handicap will be followed with some interest. Wantwood and Special Flight are Stewards’ candidates engaged in the open sprint and the Taramoa Handicap. There was a doubt this morning, however, about Wantwood fulfilling his engagement. Salmon Spear, who is a firm favourite for the Southland Handicap, is unlikely to start in the New Zealand Cup, and he will be produced in the Riccarton Handicap on the first day. Form horses include:—

11.15: Southland Hurdles.—Foreign Ways, Ruling Moment, First Out. 11.55: Waverley Trot.—Sunny Hall, First Arion, Clementine. 12.35: Takitimu Hack Handicap.—Full Play, Geisha Girl, Super Flight. 1.15: Southland Handicap.—Salmon Spear, Boolamskee, Pride of Mossburn. 1.55: Roslyn Trial Handicap.—First division: Some Sal, Fonso, Glenesk. Second division: Kasimov, Flibbertigibbet, St. Simper. 2.45: New River Trot.—Dragoman, Clueless.

3.25: Stewart Island Handicap.—Pageantry, Spare Part, Merry Lancer. 4.5: Taramoa Handicap.—Patmos. Nigger Lad, Special Flight.
