RIVER REPORTS

FAVOURABLE CONDITIONS Telegraphic reports received hy the Otago Acclimatisation Society concerning the state of rivers indicate that all the streams are in good order and anglers should he able to visit their favourite rendezvous at the week-end. The following is a summary of the state of the various rivers:— WYNDHAM and MIMIHAU: Both clear and in perfect order for fly fishing. MAT AURA: Slightly up but in good order. This is the first time since the opening that the Mataura has shown signs of clearing up. It should be in excellent order for the next few weeks provided there is no heavy rain. WAIPAHI, CATLINS and OWAKA: All clear and in perfect order. POMAHAKA: Slightly up but in good order. As there is not much snow left in the back country, this river should settle down very quickly. SHAG RIVER: Is in excellent order. MAHINER ANGI DAM: Is continuing to rise above its normal level and to bring in extra feeding grounds. This will encourage the fish towards the shore line, and some good sport can be expected from this quarter within the next week or two.
