TERRORISTS ATTACK IN HAIFA
JERUSALEM. Nov. 12. Three Jewish girls and one Jewish youth were killed, and two other Jewish youths were injured in a gun battle with British troops in Haifa. Intelligence officers learned that several hundred Stern Gang members were receiving military training in an orange grove on the coast. The army cordoned the area, but most of the terrorists, all fully armed, opened fire and broke through when called on to surrender. Ther. were no British casualties. It is reported that the battle was the biggest since the terrorists attacked Acre prison last May. The terrorists attacked soon after the Haifa military court sentenced two members of the Stern Gang for carrying arms and bombs. People in the cafe as the firing began threw themselves on the floor or under tables. Policemen rushed into the street shooting, thus becoming easy targets fdr snipers.
