BRIGADE NOTES Advice has been received from Wellington that Dominion competitions for nursing and ambulance divisions will be held in Dunedin on the King’s Birthday holiday in June. Only the champion team from each district will be eligibe to compete and it will therefore be necessary for districts to hold an elimination conest. Full details are expected for circulation shortly. , _ .. . The inspections of the Dunedin Ambulance. Edith Cavell Nursing and Cadet Nursing Divisions were recently carried out by the district superintendent, who was accompanied by Lady District Superintendent E. L. Applegarth and Corps Superintendent L. V. Stewart. The district superintendent complimented tne divisions on the year’s work and on their neatness on parade. Opportunity was taken to present to Superintendent J. R. Wilson, of the Dunedin Division, his warrant of appointment, and to G. R. Parsonson a warrant of appointment as cadet superintendent. The inspecting party subsequently watched the divisions at work. The inspection of the North-East Valley Cadet Nursing Division and the newly formed Dunedin Cadet Nursing Division was carried out by Lady District Superintendent E. L. Applegarth, who was accompanied by Lady District Officer R. W. Sutherland. , , The inspection of the Green Island Cadet Nursing Division was conducted by District Superintendent T. H. Mulholland, who was accompanied by Lady District Officer Sutherland and Corps Officer G Kitchin. This division has increased in numbers and all girls are very keen. Notification of the approval of service medals for Ambulance Officer V. Godfrey and W. Overton, of the Dunedin Ambulance Division, have been received. The brigade will again supply personnel for the motor camps at Wanaka and Queenstown during the period December 22 tc January 14. Arrangements f°r the public duty in 1948 are well under way. An appeal is, however, made to all ex-members or persons holding first aid certificates to join the brigade, as the work in 1948 will be very heavy. The brigade is supplying personnel for all sports, gatherings, processions, and the Fun Fair at the Caledonian Grounds. The latter alone will entail continuous attendance from January 13 to March 31. The priory commissioner has approved tile transfer of District Officer F. W. Bamfield to the reserve from September. 1f)47 Mr J. S. Macdonald has been appointed as acting district secretary from November 1. The Nursing Cadet Divisions will hold a bring and buy sale on Wednesday, November 26. The proceeds are to be devoted to parcels for Britain.
