PRICES REMAIN FIRM P.A. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 11. There was a large entry of good quality fat cattle at Lorneville to-day. Compared with the previous week, values in the early part of the sale were a little easier, but showed an improvement in the later stages. Over the last race competition was keen with values up 20s a head. Values.—Good quality heavy-weight bullocks, £2B 17s 6d to £3l 10s; mediumweights, £2O to £2B; handy-weights, £22 to £24 10s; light-weights, £l7 10s to £2O. Heavy-weight cows, £22 to £24 10s; me-dium-weights, £l7 10s to £2O; aged and lighter sorts, £l3 to £ls 10s. Good quality medium-weight heifers, £22 10s to £25; light-weights, £lB 10s to £2O; small sorts, £l4 to £l6 10s.
There was an extra large yarding of fat sheep, being mainly shorn sheep. Wethers were not as good as last week, but quality maiden ewes were about on a par, and an easing of about 2s a head was shown by medium quality and overweight ewes.
Values. —Heavy woolly wethers to 745; good quality medium-weights, 60s to 655; lighter weights, 53s to 58s. Heavy-weight shorn wethers, to 60s; medium, 50s to 555; lighter, 43s to 48s. Good quality woolly maiden ewes, 50s to 555; medium. 42s to 475; aged sorts, 30s to 355. Shorn maiden ewes, 42s to 465; medium, 33s to 375; good quality butchers’ ewes, 24s to 28s; unfinished sorts and over-weights, 20s to 225. Good quality fat lambs, 40s to 465; light-weights, 33s to 375.
