LIME SUBSIDY

RESTORATION DESIRED DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Nov. 11. Adequate supplies of lime and fertiliser at a reasonable price were considered essential for the development of marginal lands and the country’s general economy by all the speakers who took part in the debate in the House of Representatives to-night on the report of the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee, which was tabled on Friday. There was general agreement that the payment of subsidies on lime and fertilisers should be restored, but members disagreed as to the method of financing them. Government members advocated the use of stabilisation pool accounts, while Opposition speakers considered that the subsidies should be met by the Government, as in the past.
