SERIOUS VIEW TAKEN

INTERFERENCE WITH SITTING ALBATROSS HARBOUR BOARD TO ACT A serious view of the recent interference with a sitting albatross in the bird sanctuary at the harbour heads was taken by members of the Otago Harbour Board at a meeting last night. Suggesting that “ some strong measures ” should be taken against the culprits, Mr F. E. Tyson said that the board should strongly support Mr L. E. Richdale in his endeavours to protect the birds. After a report by members of the board’s staff, the ciiairman, Mr W. R Clarke, said that the way in which the birds had been interferred with was a disgrace. He agreed with Mr Tyson that the offenders should be prosecuted if at all possible. The board decided to make a thorough investigation of the subject
