OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD
RETIRING MEMBERS The Otago Harbour Board decided last night to place on record the valuable services given by the retiring members Messrs W. Begg (1929-1947). J. H. Duncan (1929-32 and 1935-47), R. Walls, M.P. (1938-47), H. S. Watson (1941-47), P. G. Connolly, M.P. (1944-47) and A. L. S. Cassie (1944-471, and a letter of appreciation be sent to each. Paying a tribute to their service, the chairman, Mr W. R. Clarke, said that Mr Begg had been chairman from 1937 to 1940, deputy-chairman from 1935 to 1936 and from 1944 to 1945, sinking fund commissioner from 1941 to 1947 and a member of the finance committee since 1931. Mr Duncan was deputy-chairman from 1943 to 1944 and a member of the finance committee from 1938 to 1947. Mr Watson was deputy-chairman from 1945 to 1947 and a member of the finance committee from 1941 to 1947. The chairman welcomed Mr T. Bradshaw, the new representative of West Harbour, who was elected unopposed, Messrs L. L. Derbidge, F. E. Tyson and Jeffrey; who have been reappointed, and Messrs John Preston and R. S. Thompson, who have been re-elected unopposed.
