BOY’S FORTITUDE

FORTY OPERATIONS AWARDED HIGHEST SCOUT DECORATION (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 8. Dominion Headquarters, Wellington, of the Boy Scout movement has received advice from Imperial Headquarters, London, that the Cornwell Scout decoration. Scouting’s highest award, has been given to Scout Stanley Cole, aged 17, who is at present in Wellington Public Hospital. The award has been made to Scout Cole for heroic and cheerful endurance of suffering. Cole has been in hospital for the last five years. In that time he has undergone more than 20 major and a similar number of minor operations. Recently he had a leg amputated. His cheerfulness, fortitude and courage are stated to have impressed all with whom he has come in contact. A formal presentation will be made on the arrival of the decoration from England.
