CLYDE
Bowling An interesting visitor over the weekend was Mr A. Miller, ot the Kattuna Bowling Club, a green supervisor of many years standing and a recognised authority on grass seeds, Some useful information on the attention and upkeep of bowling ereens was very much appreciated by focal enthusiasts. The Clyde Club, througn its limited membership, has had to adopt various means of supplementing the ordinary revenue, and among these have been the card evenings held in the pavilion, which in the past have been mainly supported by the members With the knowledge that there is a war on and the various appeals to the public would have to be supported first, the officer in charge
of the cards has decided to seek a wider co-operation of the townspeople and divide the proceeds between the club and the Air Force Queen appeal. A pleasing response resulted on Saturday night, when the first session was held sixty players, representing all sections of the community, having a thoroughly ehjoyable evening Mrs Smith and Mr C. Hanning, sen., being the winners The prizes were given bv Messrs C. J. Davidson and J McLeod. Presbyterian Church A pleasing function was held last week in st. Mungo's Church, when the services of two members of the congregation weie recognised. The members were Mrs A. Aitken and Mrs W. M. Lopdell both of whom over a period of years had rendered valuable services to the church. Suitable presentations were made to both guests, and musical items helped towards making the evening enjoyable
