AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the executive of the Automobile Association (Otago) was held last night, Mr P. W. Breen presiding. There were present Messrs J. L. Passmore. H. S. Reid. W. J. Mclnnes, H. L. Gibson, R. A. Douglas. W A. Jenkins, C. W. Sundstrum, W. L. Coxhead, H. L. Sprosen, G. T. Thorn A. E. Bingham, J. Y. Love, W. H. Mirams, G. T. Anderson, T. Y. Tifrner. A. E. Ansell, G. W. Kerens, and H. A, Campbell. Election of Vice-president As only one vice-president was elected at the annual meeting instead of two, ah election was held to fill the vacancy, Mr H. S. Reid being elected. Mr G. Souness was elected to the executive to take Mr Reid’s place. Pedestrian Crossing It was decided to ask the City Council to mark a pedestrian crossing at Forbury corner and also to erect a check-rail at the entrance to the right-of-way at the same corner to prevent children running out into the middle of the road. Carnival Procession It was decided to provide a novel exhibit in the Queen Carnival Procession on Friday night. Motor Cycle Hill Climb The Sports Committee was empowered to make arrangements for a motor cycle hill climb, a charge to be made, if possible, for Patriotic Funds. It was decided to approach the Oil Fuel Controller for additional petrol for the event. Membership One hundred and eighty new members were elected and 125 resignations were received. The total membership, it was reported, was 6129.
