SEVERE EXPLOSIONS

AMERICAN CHEMICAL PLANT .4, " LONOOM. Oct. 5. A message from Therrefuul (Indiana) states that three explosions in the Commercial Solvent Company’s chemical plant shook the city. The fate of 10 persons in the plant is unknown. Six tank cars, loaded with alcohol, which were near the blazing building, could no' bf removed owing to the heat Further blasts are feared, as the 20-acre lot contained numerous tanks of chemicals. A later message states that at least one person was trapped and is believed to have been killed, while nine others escaped. A further explosion blasted the comoany’s main building. Officials have expressed the opinion that the explosions were accidental.
