INCLUDED IN BALLOT
SOME SERVING TERRITORIALS UNAVOIDABLE ERRORS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Oct. 4. "Although extreme care was exercised by both the Army and National Service Department to ensure that a complete roll of all serving territorials was compiled and their names removed from the ballot, it is regrettable that a few errors were unavoidable," said the Minister of National Service, Mr R. Semple in the House to-day, when replying to an urgent question by T .r E. B. K. Gordon (Opposition, Rangitikei). Mr Gordon asked that the necessary steps should be taken to avoid a recurrence of those serving as volunteer territorials being included in ballots. ..... "In a work of this magnitude it is not unreasonable to expect a percentage of error," the Minister added. "Having regard to all the circumstances, I am satisfied that every care was exercised by my department and the same will be done in respect of all future ballots."
