Vice-Regal The Governor-General (Viscount Galway) will unveil a memoi'ial tablet to Archbishop Julius in the wall of the Christchurch Cathedral on Sunday afternoon. His Excellency will be accompanied by Lady Galway on his visit to Christchurch. Mr Peter McSkimming was a passenger for Christchurch by the through express yesterday. Mr T. M. Kemealy, of Auckland, has been appointed superintendent of mails at the Chief Post Office, Dunedin, in place of Mr W. J. U Whinray, who recently retired. Information has been received in Timaru that Lieutenant-colonel L. M. Inglis has been appointed brigadier of the New Zealand Infantry Brigade in Egypt, with the rank of colonel. Northbound passengers by Union Airways yesterday were Mis. - E. Smith, Mr J. H. Edmuhdson, and Mr J. R. Marsh, for Palmerston North, Southbound passengers by the afternoon plane were Mr D. Weir, from Auckland, Mr L. F. Cleghorn, Mr J. Donaldson, Mr A. Hayward, and Mr G SevickeJones, for Christchurch. Mr W. F. Monk, formerly of Kaikoura who was selected as a Rhodes Scholar from Canterbury University College in 1934, has been appointed senior history master at Abbey School, London. Mr Monk, after the term of his Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford, remained for a further period doing research work in history, and at the outbreak of the war joined the New Zealand anti-tank unit, in which he -e----mained till his recent appoL.tment. The Rev. R. W. Fursden has retired from Chenie Baptist Church, Bucks, after a pastorate of 34 years, and intends coming to New Zealand, where he will join his son, who is now minister of the Caversham Baptist Church, and president of the Baptis* Union of New • Zealand.
