GOVERNMENT CAUCUS
AMICABLE DISCUSSIONS-: HOME GUARD MOVEMENT (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) 1 WELLINGTON. Oct; T. ; For . the third day, the caucus of the Labour Party was held to-day, members meeting early, in the afternoon and again this evening. ;L6b'by reports are that, although every aspect of the Government’s past work and future legislation has been discussed,' the .caucuses have been extremely amicable. The. frankest discussion has apparently been invited, and the results were described by one member as the strongest proof be had had for a long time of the happy relations existing in the Government party.
The party passed a motion congratulating ti er Minister of National Service. Mr R. Semple, and his'associate, Mr D. Wilson, M.L.C.. on their inauguration and organisation of the Home Guard movement. Members expressed their satisfaction with. the. progress made and the reports received from all over the country of the desire of citizens to help in the defence of New'Zealand. •
