ORPHANS’ CLUB

A SUCCESSFUL SEASON CONCLUDING MEETING LAST NIGHT The Dunedin Orphans’ Club last night concluded what must be regarded as one of its most successful seasons since Its inception. Bro. Arthur Macdonald was in the chair, and there was a large gathering of members present. After the chairman had extended a welcome to th. se present, a most enjoyable programme was presented. Numbers were played by the club’s orchestra under the baton of Bro. James Clark, and well-vr.ried individual items were given. Songs were presented by Bros. J. Paterson, J. Gordon, E. F. Paris, G. E. Bridges, and M. F. O'Sullivan, a trio comprising Bros. J. W. Pringle, R. McDougall, and W. Stevenson, and a quartet consisting of Bros. R. S. Moloney, R. Wilson Brown, A. Clark, and W. Stevenson gave popular numbers, a violin solo was given by Bro. Maurice Johnson, a tenor horn solo by Bro. W. Smith, and recitations were presented by Bros. C. H. Russell and J. d. McConnell. The programme was a well-varied one, and was greatly enjoyed. Bro. Macdonald referred briefly to the success of the season, and expressed the hope that the club would enjoy many more similar ones v He referred to the departure for military service of Bros. J. Gordon, E. Paris, and R. Kerr, and wished them every success in the army and a safe return to Dunedin.
