CAR OVERTURNS

GIRL KILLED INSTANTLY THREE OTHERS INJURED (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 29 When a motor car travelling south overturned on the Great South road near Bombay yesterday afternoon, a girl, was killed instantly and three other passengers were injured. The injured were later admitted to the Auckland Hospital. The victims were: KILLED Miss Valmai June Sharplin, a waitress, aged 19. of Newton. Injured Private Herbert Kitchener McCaulcy, married, aged 24, 0 f Hopuhopu Military Camp, formerly of Lumsden, Southland, severe concussion and head injuries. Private John Niven Murch, single, aged 24, also of the Hopuhopu Camp, formerly of Invercargill, severe shock. Miss Edith Beasley, waitress, aged about 19, of Newton, shock and head injuries. When the car overturned Miss Sharplin, who was driving, was caught beneath the car when the en her side opened. She was killed instantly. The other passengers were severely shaken as the car turned over, and Private McCauley was knocked unconscious. He was still unconscious when he was admitted to hospital, and his condition is still fairly serious. The condition of Miss Beasley and Private Murch is not serious CAR PLUNGES DOWN BANK ELDERLY WOMAN KILLED (Per United Press Association) HASTINGS, Sept, 29. An elderly woman passenger was killed and the driver was injured when a car left the road near the Mohaln bridge on the Napier-Taupo highway on Saturday and plunged 30 feet down a bank.- The victims were Winifred Dorothy Sargeant, of Napier, aged 60, who was killed, and William Moore Barton, of Devenport, aged 50, who suffered injuries.
