PIGEON RACING
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its second Christehurch flock race on Saturday, 170 birds being liberated from 18 lofts in dull, overcast weather. They flew into heavy rain, and this slowed up their velocity. The winning bird flew the 200 miles in 7hr 15min at a velocity of 818 yards per minute. Result:— J. Scoullar's Lovelace .. .. 1 M. Anderson's Bright Star ..8 . C. Watson's Last Thought .. .. 3 W. Hargreaves's Lady Leith .. 4 A. Esquilant's Hurricane .. .. 5 The club will fly from Parnassus, 265 miles airline, next Saturday.
