Tyrie—McClelland In bright spring sunshine, on Saturda” last, at St. John’s Church, Millers Flat, the marriage was solemnised of Mr Harold Joffre Tyrie, the Rugby footballer, younger son of Mr and Mrs W L Tyrie, of Hobson street, St. Clair, and Phyllis Mary, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs S. McClelland, of Millers Flat. The Rev F. L. Irwin, of Lawrence, officiated, while Mrs K. Campbell presided at the organ. The name of Tyrie is closely connected with business in Dunedin, while the McClelland family has been associated with the early history of Central Otago. Visitors were present from different parts of Otago and Southland, while congratulatory telegrams were received from as far afield as the North Island. The church had been artistically decorated with huge bowls of forsythia, pink blossom and spring flowers, while the guests’ pews were indicated by bows of palesl pink The youthful bride was dressed in a becoming spring frock of soft powder blue crepe georgette with accessories to tone, a triple string of pearls, ’and a large summer felt hat of similar shade. She carried an exquisite bouquet of pink hyacinths and carnations. In attendance was her only sister, Marjory, wearing an attractive spring frock of rust-shaded satin crepe and a large mustard-coloured summer felt hat, with upswepi brim like that of the bride’s. An antique gold-wrought necklace, the gif' of the bridegroom, was her only ornament. Her autumntinted bouquet was composed of rich dark red tulips ranunculi, and wallflower Mr S Robert of Dunedin, acted as best man. After the reremony the guests were received at the bride’s home. Mrs McClelland wore a wine-coloured redingote and frock and a smart black hat, while Mrs Tyrie wore a bottlegreen spring frock with large antique necklace, and a becoming topper felt hat to tone. An honoured guest was the bridegroom’s grandfather, Mr A. Tyrie. When the young couple left later, the bride was wearing a navy angora coat with flared skirt, over a pretty blue ensemble. Mr and Mrs H. J. Tyrie have taken a flat in Stafford street. Dunedin Templeton—Stevenson
The marriage was solemnised at Knox Church, by the Rev. D. C. Herron, on the evening of September 14, between Owen Reid, youngest son of Mrs Templeton, of Albert Town, Wanaka, and the late Mr James Templeton, and Mary Ellen, youngest daughter of the late Christina and Alexander Stevenson, of Edendale. The organist was Mr C. R. Spackman The bride, escorted by her brother, Mr A. Stevenson, wore a beautiful and becoming gown of rich magnolia satin, made on full Juliet lines. The neckline, sleeves, and train were finished with tiny embroidered leaves. An embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of lilies. A gold engraved cross was also worn," and a bouquet was carried, consisting of arum lilies and maidenhair fern. The matron of honour Mrs A. Stevenson, and the bridesmaid. Miss Ella Templeton, vere dressed in pale blue diamante made on classical lines. Turbans of the same material were worn, and they carried bouquets of pink camellias, pink and blue hyacinths, and maidenhair fern.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr I. Templeton as best man, and by Mr J. Stevenson as groomsman. Master Brian Stevenson (nephew of the bride) acted as page boy. The duties of ushers were carried out by Messrs H. Paterson and R. Atkins During the signing of the register Mrs Lloyd Middlemass rendered a solo. The guests were later received at the Vcdic Lounge by Mrs Templeton (mother of the bridegroom) and Mrs Murray (aunt of the bride). For travelling the bride chose a blue frock, navy coat, and fur stole. Mr and Mrs Templeton's future home is to be at Wanaka
