RISE IN DEPOSITS IN JULY Deposits with the Post OHice Savings Bank during July totalled £2,489,389, compared with £2,304.747 in June. 1940. and £2,086,344 in July, 1939. Withdrawals amounted to £2,202,308, the comparative figures for June, 1940, and July, 1939, being £2.233,828 and £2,432,849 respectively. For the first seven months of the current year deposits have amounted to £16,265,393 and withdrawals to £15,018,225, leaving an excess of deposits -of £1,247,168. Comparative figures for the corresponding period of 1939 were: Deposits, £15,503,450; withdrawals, £19.484,868; excess of withdrawals. £3.981,418.
