FORTNIGHTLY MEETING The meeting of the City Council last night was presided over by the Mayor (Mr A H. Allen). Others present were Crs D C. Cameron, W. H. Borrie, J. Wilson M. C. Henderson, R. Walls, J. W Munro. M.P.. J. McCrae, H. L. Gibson. W. B. Taverner and E. J. Smith. Grant to Navy Queen The recommendation of the Finance Committee to make a donation to the funds of the Navy Queen of £ 1000 was withdrawn from the Finance Committee's report on the motion of the chairman (Cr W. B. Taverner), who said the matter would be further considered. Concession Tickets Describing the policy of selling concession tickets on the trams on]y between certain hours as farcical, Cr Wilson said that it took a conductor longer to explain why he could not sell a ticket at a certain time than it would lake to accommodate the passenger The chairman of the Transport Committee (Cr H. L. Gibson) said the system was only on trial, but he thought that the present difficulties would right themselves in time. Lynn Street Bus Stop Cr Gibson moved that the clause in the Works Committee's report dealing with the Lynn street bus stop be referred back because it was an unnecessary change and outside *he scope of the Works Committee. After some discussion the amendment was rejected. Tender Six tenders, all in the sum of £636 10s 6d. for the supplv and delivery of a steel wire rope for the Kaikorai cable tramway were received, and the order was placed with Messrs Donald Stuart. Ltd.
