THE SHIP JURA

EIGHTY-SECOND ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL CHURCH SERVICE The eighty-second anniversary of the arrival of the ship Jura at Port Chalmers was observed by a special service in First Church last night, when passengers and descendants were in attendance. The Rev. W. A. Stevely said the occasion was one of thanksgiving to God for the vision, sacrifice and faith of the pioneers. Dunedin was very young when the Jura passengers came to these shores, and they had played their part in the development ol tfte province. The pioneers had left a goodly heritage. It was this splendid inheritance of faith and freedom which was imperilled by forces of evil in the world to-day. and which inspired our nation to endure sacrifice in order to vindicate and maintain it.
