MANIOTOTO DISTRICT COMMITTEE
At a recent meeting of the Maniototo District Patriotic Committee, over which Mr J. B. McGill presided, Mrs L. P. Aldridge was appointed an authorised collector for the Oturehua sub-district. VI e selection of Miss Nellie Herlihy a*, tt.e Countess of Maniototo was approved unanimously. Mr Charles Hore reponed that the Palearoa-Gimmerburn and "A'aipiata subdistricts were combining for the purpose of lolding a gala day at Patearca on September 28, when the Air Force Queen (Miss Mary Pratt) would be present. Messrs Bleach, FYaser, and the secretary were appointed to make arrangements for a district effort to be held at Ranfurly on October 26. The chairman reported having attended the meeting in Dunedin at which a provincial organisation was set up to handle the collection and disposal of waste materials. District sub-committees were authorised to make arrangements for the coVlection in their areas. The question of the representation of country districts on the Rehabilitation Committee was raised by Mr W. Mann, and it was decided that inquiries should be made regarding the matter.
