THE SYSTEM IN DUNEDIN STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER ,t (Special ro Dail-v I'imesj WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. . Commenting to-day on a Statement in a Dunedin newspaper about the new system of working overseas vessels at certain New Zealand ports," the chairman .of the Waterfront Control Commission (Mr R. E. Price) said that the statement . did not appear by authority of the commission. It was quite in error to state that the system would operate at and Port Chalmers within the next few days, and that it was at present in operation at Lyttelton. It would probably be some weeks before the new system was established at these ports. “ The last paragraph nf the statement .indicates that;a bonus- will be paid, depending on the time occu : Died in the working of a ship, Mr Price said. “ This is quite incorrect, as the additional payments that may accrue will be profits arising out of the contract and are dependent oh the tohnage and,not on the time factor.”
