AIR FORCE QUEEN AND MAIDS ENTERTAINED
The wives of the members of the central co-ordinating committee of the Queen Carnival entertained the Air Force Queen, Miss Mary Pratt.-, and her nine maids of honour to tea in the Somerset Lounge of the Savoy on Tuesday afternoon. The tables were gay with anemones and primroses, and the wall brackets held flowering currant and other blossom. The guests, each of whom was presented with an identification badge, were received by Mrs A. C. Cameron (wife of the chairman) and Mrs C. J. Wood (wife of the deputy chairman). Mrs Cameron’s suit of black embossed wool was worn with a blouse of black and while angora, a smart brimmed hat of black velvet, and a posy of bright feather flowers. Mrs Wood was attired in a black suit trimmed with braid, matching felt hat and furs They introduced the Air Force Queen (Miss Mary Pratt) and the nine country countesses: Mrs J. H. Stevenson (Balclutha). countess of South Otago: Miss Joan Scaife (Glendhu), countess of the Lakes: Miss Jill Lethbridge (Tarras). countess of Vincent; Miss Mary Bennetts (Roxburgh), countess of Tuapeka. Miss Nellie Hcrlihy (Patearoa), countess of Maniototo: Miss Joyce Howell (Middlemarch). countess of Taieri; Miss Betty Thomas (Palmerston), countess of Waihemo: Miss Alwyn Nichol (Waikouaiti). countess of Waikouaiti: Miss Lexio Mathieson (Tomahawk), countess of the Peninsula. The Air Force queen wore for the occasion a becoming picture hat of navy felt, a cornflower blue tweed coat and a large shoulder posy of pink felt flowers Others guests present were the Mayoress (Mrs A.
