THE RAIDS ON LONDON TERRIFIC EXPLOSIONS MONTREAL, Sept. 10. (Received Sept. 11, at 2 a.m.) The New York Times correspondent says buildings in the hedi't of London were shattered by 5001 b bombs early this morning from successive waves of raiders. The explosions were so great that they knocked the fleeing civilians off their feet. A world famous street was littered inches deep with glass and debris. Three churches known to all tourists were threatened by an extensive fire in adjoining offices. Bursting a archies brought down three raiders simultaneously and blew 'a fourth to pieces. The worst sufferers are believed to be in the East End and south-west and central London.
NAZI DEMANDS ON VICHY FOOD AND RAW MATERIAL \ MONTREAL, Sept. 10. (Received* Sept. 11, at 2 a.m.) The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says it is reliably stated that Germany formally demanded that the Vichy Government ship to the Reich 58 per cent, of the food and raw materials of unoccupied France and similarly such products imported to France in future. It is believed that the new French Ambassador, who will endeavour to obtain food relief for France from the United States, will meet fresh obstacles, due to the foregoing.
