OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Cricket Association last evening, over which Mr A. .H. Allen presided, brought to a close the affairs of the 1939-40 season and decided that the annual meeting of the association should be held on Wednesday, September 25. A report submitted on behalf of the Finance Committee by the chairman of the committee (Mr A. G. Valentine) showed that the Endowment Fund stood at £651 17s 9d. Contributions from clubs for the 1939-40 season totalled £135 10s and special contributions came to £7 7s. There was still an amount of £32 10s owing by clubs, and the committee considered that if this were paid and some further ground members’ fees collected, it should be possible to bring the account to the £7OO. which was the committee’s aim. It was decided to advise clubs whose fees were overdue that until their fees were paid, they were not entitled to representation at the annual meeting of the association or to nominate teams in the grade competitions Through the New Zealand Cricket Council, a request was received from a meeting of New South Wales cricketers and supporters of the game, held in the rooms of the New South Wales Cricket Association, for contributions to a fund to assist the wife and family of the late M. A. Noble, one of Australia’s greatest players It was decided that the secretary should ask the secretary of the New Zealand council for further information.
