STABBED IN CHEEK

CONSTABLE ASSAULTED CHASE AFTER PROWLER (Per United Press Association) WAIHI, Sept. 9. A stab on the fight cheek with a sharp instrument was suffered by Constable William Harper, of Waihi, who. on Friday night, gave chase to a man who was seen leaving the Borough Council yards in suspicious circumstances. Benzine has been stolen lately from these yards. . The man turned suddenly and inflicted a blow, which also tore part of the constable's clothing. The wound inflicted on his cheek required several stitches. The investigations are in the charge of Detective J. Hayes, of Hamilton, but so far no arrest has been made.
