DUNEDIN WEATHER

TO THE EDITOR Sir,—"An Ex-Dunedinite " has replied very promptly to the challenge from Alexandra, but " Dunedinite" has not yet replied to my challenge to say whether the Dunedin "official" sunshine is recorded in the city itself or on Flagstaff, at St Clair, or at Opoho. Evidently he was rebuffed upon making inquiries. You kindly informed us, however, that the local authorities record the sunshine at various points in and around Dunedin. Of course, owing to cloud and city smoke, these will seldom agree with each other. '< Will " Dunedinite" to into the question more explicitly and tell the Dunedin residents of the " official " sunshine recorded at one spot, say, the roof of the Gardens residence at Opoho, or are the " official" figures compiled from the best card each day from the " various points in and around the city"? If this proves to be correct, will the honest citizens of Dun-

edin be satisfied with this device to boost the actual figures of the city? Will "Dunedinite" or the town clerk make a definite statement as to the " locale " of the recording of the " official" sunshine, and also the sea level of the Otago Daily Times roof and the roof of the Gardens residence? Will the Leith Valley let the sunshine through to the Gardens later than the city site'— l am, etc., A Little Knowledge.
