CENTENNIAL CONCERT
SCOTTISH CLUBS’ FUNCTION
The Centennial Scottish concert on Saturday in the Main Town Hall should be of special interest to the Scottish community, but the variety of items will have an appeal to all muslc~lovin£ folks. The Orphans’ Club Orchestra will render several selections, and the novelty of hearing the pipes playing with the orchestra should prove at* tractive. The cream of Dunedin s vocal talent will be heard in songs, old and new. and patrons will be well catered for in this department of entertainment The Dunedin Highland Pipe Band' will be in attendance. There will be a short but attractive playette by the St. Andrews Players, and the Gaelic Choir will render music of the Highlands and Islands. : including O Nach Till Thu Ruinn A Bis" (“Will Ye No Come Back Again ) and Air Fal-al-al O” (love song). The Maori "Raid" and performance by the Otakou Maori people m native costume should in itself be an attraction. They will give the haka ana sing Native songs. Maori melodies will be played on the violin with a suitable background. The function is being held under the auspices of the Mayor, Mr A. H. Allen, and the Centennial Committee, and is being organised by the Council of Dunedin Scottish Societies. Seats may be booked at Begg’s. and as the attendance is sure to be large, intending patrons are advised to book early. The accompanists will be Mr Gil Dech and Mr Albert Bidgood. and the pipers Messrs A. McMillan, L. McKillio and Airdrie Stewart. Programme supervisor will be Mr Arthur _ Macdonald. The programme is advertised.
