MACANDREW BAY ORPHANS

Last Wednesday evening an enjoyable time was spent by a large number of orphans and their friends at Macandrcw Bay. The president. Bro. R. Stuart Glendining, who was in the chair, was responsible for the programme, and excellent fare was provided. During the evening the McGavin’s-Strachan’s cricket team was presented with the shield which had been won from the Orphans’ Club during the last season. The toasts honoured were: " McGavins-Strachans Cricket Team ” (Bro. J. Vivian and responded to by Bro. H. Davis, captain); "Performers and Visitors ” (Bro. A. Hartley and Mr Grigg). Items were provided by the Roslyn Glee Singers, chorus: Messrs J. Haig and H. Davis, songs; Mr P. Rodgerson, piano solo; Mr D. S. Ross, bagpipe solo: Mr H. Martin, recitation; Mr W. Tait, trumpet: Mr A. Grigg, accordeon solo; Mr J. Robb, saxaphone solo; Mr C. Denholm, mandolin solo; and Messrs Robb and Grigg, vocal duet. The acompaniments were played by Bro. L. Tyrie.
