BROADCASTING OF WRESTLING MATCHES

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —Since the commencement of the wrestling season I have noticed in various papers letters condemning our 4YA wrestling announcer. So far I have held my peace, but the ebullition of one signing himself "Irish Moss" has exceeded reasonable bounds.

Do any of these so enthusiastic wrestling followers think they could make a better job of the announcing? Let them consider. They have to convey to a critical fireside audience the contortions of two cauliflower-eared combatants who twist each other into weird and wonderful shapes. Not only that, but they would be required to speak above the steady roar of the lady wrestling devotees in Dunedin and a few enthusiastic men. Small wander if they do develop a cough!—l am, etc., Tainui, Sept. 15. • Gravy.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The criticism levelled at the announcer of Saturday night's wrestling match was unfair and unsportsmanlike. He gave his usual clear de-

scription despite the fact that he evidently had a slight cough. Would " Irish Moss " care to undertake the description of a fast contest? I think he would find that (without a cough) he would require frequent sips of his own nom-de-plume.—l am, etc., Fair Play is Bonnie Play.

Oamaru, Sept. 15. tWe have received letters from "Tommy Walker, sen.," "Ninth Round" and "Bored" (Chatto Creek) endorsing the view expressed by "Irish Moss." We suggest that those who are dissatisfied with the announcer should communicate with the Otago Wrestling Association. This correspondence is closed.—Ed., O.D.T.]
