HOCKEY
OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the executive of the Otago Hockey Association was held last evening, the president, Mr D. T. Woodf J, occupying the chair. Mr O J. Begg reported on the visit to Southland. Blair (North Otago), who was playing in goal for Otago, had received an injury, and had had to leave the field. His play in the early stages of the game was excel lent. Graham, a junior reserve, had been played in the senior team because one of the selected senior forwards had been unable to take the field. He had played well, and was deserving of praise for his performance. Mr R. M’Kelvey reported on the visit to Southland of the primary schools’ representative team, which had been very successful, though the home side had won the game. The match had made it clear that better coaching for the schoolboys next season was a matter deserving of all possible consideration. The team managers were thanked for their reports, and it was decided to write to the Southland Association expressing appreciation of the hospitality extended to the Otago teams. The following entries were received for the junior seven-a-side tournament to be held next Saturday;—University (2) Albany (2), Technical Old Boys (3) High School Old Boys, Training College and Otago Boys’ High School 12). Anangcments in connection with the match against Canterbury to be played at Christchurch on Saturday were discussed. and i 1 was decided that the team should travel by bus, leaving Dunedir early on Friday evening.
