NOVEL DRINK CHARGE
“ Under the influence of drink while in charge of an invalid chair ” was the charge preferred at Woking recently against Harold Fagente, j temporarily living at Merrow, near j Guildford, whose home is at Ports- : mouth. He entered the box with the aid of crutches. Fagente’s defence v/as that he was in pain and took some drink to deaden it. As he was driving his chair along with the aid of his petrol engine the front wheel touched a stone and knocked his hand off the control, with the result that the | chair overturned. | A petrol engine -was a necessity I to him owing to the hilly nature jof the country near Portsmouth, j The magistrates fined him £5. They I agreed that there were special reaj sons why he should not be disI qualified from holding a licence.
