AVONDALE REHANDICAPS (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 13. The following rehandicaps for the first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's spring meeting have been declared by Mr F. J. M’Manemin; — Kingsland Hurdles. —Lucidus 71b, making 9.13. Henderson Handicap.—Surella 71b, making 8.4. Avondale Cup.—Silver Brier 61b, making 7.13. Flying Handicap.—Royal Secret 81b, making 8.6. DEATH OF A TRAINER (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. The death occurred at Napier today of Mr R. Alexander, a well-known trainer, of Greenmeadows, and formerly at Riccarton. Mr Alexander, who was only a young man, also trained for Mr J. J. Corry when Rabbi was racing, and later he had charge of Mr T. H. Lowry’s team. His death was not unexpected, as he had recently undergone a serious operation, and little hope was entertained for his recovery. It was a shock all the same to a wide circle of friends. He leaves a wife and young family.
