BALCLUTHA South Otago Gun Club The South Otago Gun Club held an interesting shoot on the club ground at North Balclutha on Saturday afternoon, under very favourable weather conditions. . , . , In the opening event, a six-bird eyeopener, the following six tied with the full quota of birds;—Clem Wilson. Wilson Elliott. G. Sinclair, H. Sinclair, D Campbell, J. Barclay. Wilson’s and Campbell’s were all first barrel birds. Others competing were C. Thomson (four birds), F. Chalmers (four). Time did not permit of a shoot-off in this event. , _ , , Fifteen-bird Handicap.—J. Barclay (12yds handicap) and W. Dippie (12yds) each scored 14 birds and divided first and second prizes. Others competing were: C. Wilson (19yds), 13 birds; G. Sinclair (15yds), 13; H. Sinclair (12yds), 13; F. Chalmers (12yds) 13; Wilson Elliott (18yds), 12; D. Campbell (18yds), 12; G. Thomson (12yds), B ’Double Rise, Three Pair.—This was the first time the club had essayed a double rise match, in which the clay birds are sent into the air a pair at a time. G. Sinclair (5 birds) and H. Sinclair (5 birds) tied, and divided first and second prizes. Others competing were: D. Campbell (4 birds), C. Thomson (4), F. Chalmers (4), W. Dippie (4), C. Wilson (4), Wilson Elliott (3), J. Barclay (2). Twin Calves Mr J. W. Finch, of Kaitangata, is the possessor of a dairy cow that has produced three sets of twin calves in four years, the third set arriving just the other day. Her first calf was a single, so that in four years this animal has given birth to seven calves, all healthy. On one occasion the twins were heifers, and on the other two occasions there was one of each sex.
