A NATION’S HEALTH
ro mt EDITOR £jir,—lt is interesting to note that it is the so-called capitalist country, Great,Britain, that “ gave the lead ’’ in a memorable discussion by the League of Nations early this year on the sub ject of nutrition. Sir John Orr said: “ There should be no room for policies of national self-sufficiency where the health of the people is concerned" There should be no room, either for any political party to claim that a desire to promote the health of tnc whole community exists only in one class of society. All people of alt classes are anxious to promote the health of the whole community. It is very interesting to note, also, that over-production of protective foods does not exist. Lord Bledisloe said to us, “Consume more milk, and you will empty your hospitals ami solve youif dairy quota.” That statement is practically correct. The solution of the problem cannot be made by a mere increase in wages. That measure alone is likely to result rather in consumption of more beer than of more milk. Education of the nub'ic and the provision of an adeqqao supply of good, cheap milk are both needed. The public rush to doctors for tonics and frequently receive \ery good ones, namely, some of the conten-.s of milk. If England awakes to its need for milk and milk products New Zealand can produce all the milk she can provided it is of good quality.—i am. etc., Milk.
