INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC
SPREADING IN GERMANY. (Press Assoclatior— By Telegiapn—Copyright.) LONDON, January 12. Reports from Southern and Western Germany show that the influenza epidemic is spreading northwards from Switzerland There are thousands of cases at Cologne and 3000 at Stuttgart. Baden is suffering severely, especially the larger towns, whore it is estimated that there arc 40,000 to 50,000 cases.—The Times. MANY DEATHS IN ENGLAND. LONDON, January 12. The week’s deaths from influenza in England numbered 172, including 97 in London, which is double last week’s number. Those chiefly affected are aged people and children. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
