Bowling analysis: Fox two for 79, O’Brien fivo for 99, Macartney two for 63. The ..weather was fine and hot. The wicket, which was flooded by the weekend rain, quickly dried, but it was heavy, favouring the bowler:;. Richardson, however, was out for runs, and treated them with the greatest freedom, while his partner M‘Kay played for keeps, and took 66 minutes to compile his score. Richardson had another let-off when 158. Finally he hit one from Macartney hard to cover-point, O’Brien taking a good catch. Richardson was batting 2So minutes, and bit sixteen fours. It was a lively but lucky innings. The remaining wickets went cheaply. South Australia in the second innings have lost none for 25 (A. Richardson not out 20) when stumps were drawn. Macartney and Gwyt.ne were partners, and both put on the wood, Macartney being brilliant and knocking 15 off one over. His score was made in 42 minutes, Kippax assisted Gwyn le to bring 100 on the board in 75 minutes. Hogg and Morgan rattled up the runs, but with the dismissal of the former at 160 the bowlers took charge and mowed down the wickets in quick time. At one stage M‘Kay had three wickets for 13 runs to his credit.
