TEACHERS’ SUMMER SCHOOL.
OPENED AT AUCKLAND. GREAT SUCCESS ANTICIPATED. (Special to Daili Times.) AUCKLAND, January 10. The teachers’ annual summer school and camp commenced to-day. Already many of the 200 booked to attend, have arrived, and the remainder are expected to-morrow. The Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) will officially open the school, being due to arrive about 10.30 a.m. tomorrow, leaving again about 2.30. Accompanying the Governor-General will be the Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skerrett) and several Cabinet Ministers. In conjunction with the local committee the executive have II arrangements completed, and the prospects are that the school will be an even greater success than that of last year. The men teachers are in camp on Victoria square, while the women are quartered in the district high school. The summer school officers are:—President, Mr F. Milner; vice-president, Mr D. M. Rae; treasurer, Mr H. G. Johnson; secretary, Mr G. H. Stubbs. A splendid lecturing staff is available this year, including Mr F. Milner, rector of the Waitaki Boys’ High School; Dr P. Buck, Director of Maori Hygiene; Mr *R. A. Falla, of Auckland Training College: Mr H. Longworth, director of physical instruction; Dr E. Marsdeu. director of the Board of Research in Science and Industry; Mr J. W. Shaw, of .he Auckland Training College; Professor J. Shelby, professor of education at the Canterbury University College; Mr E. D. Tayler, supervisor of the School of Music.
