A DAILY SILENCE.
A plea for a one minute’s silence every day was made by the Speaker of the House of Commons, Mr J. H. Whitley, M.l •. lately. Remarking that he nad to listen to many speeches, he added : “In a few days’ time we should rll be taking part in that solemn ceremony, on November 11, which we called the J>o Minutes’ Silence.’ ” Ho said he sometimes wished we had more silences in our lives. It would help some of us to think more of our own infirmities, and a little less oi those of our fellows. . .. “Suppose wo had a one minute silence every day, after we had asked ‘Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them that trospass against us.’ A one minute pause after that, each day, would lead te a little more charity to others.”—(“Hear, hear. )
