EXTENSIVE THEFTS.

RAIDS BT YOUTHS. OVER £2OO INVOLVED. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, January 10. Extensive thefts from shops and private houses during the Christmas holidays were admitted in the Police Court by several youths, ■ all under 21 years of age. Ten charges, in each of which all the accused were not named, involved goods and jewellery valued at £203 9a 6d, the operations extending from Point Chevalier to Mountain road. The names of the youths were: George James Dale, Thomas Henry M'latyre, Hector Donald Connolly, Noel Desmond M'Gonaglo. Edward Campbell Eaton, and Alfred John Travers.' Evidence concerning the thefts was* given by numerous witnesses, who stated that entrance in almost every case had been gained by breaking windows during the absence of the owners. \ B. R. Amott said his residence at Point Chevalier was completely ransacked on Christmas Eve, the contents of every room being thrown about. In statements made to the police and produced in court, the accused admitted the various offences. It was stated in con-, nection with the theft of books from th(j shop in Great • North road, that a key was used to open a showcase facing the footpath. The accused were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, bail being fixed at £SO in each case.
