ITALY AS AIR POWER
NEW POST FOR MUSSOLINI. MINISTER FOR AVIATION. LONDON, April 27. “Further proof of Italy’s intention to become a first-class air Power,” is how the Rome correspondent of the Times regards (ho Italian Government’s decision to convert the air force into an autonomous unit. Ho says there is little doubt that the decision followed the creation of a Ministry of Aviation, identical with - the Ministries of War and the Navy. Sgnor Mussolini, who at present is High Commissioner for Aviation, is considered most probable to bo the first holder of the now portfolio. The Gvcrnrpent press emphasises the importance of aviation to Italy, not only as a means of defence, but for the purposes of Mediterranean expansion.
