COLLIE DOG TRIALS.

ST. BATHAN’S CLUB. The third annual meeting of the St. Bathan’s District ColHo Dog Club was held at St. Bathan’s on April 29 and 30. The club was fortunate in having pleasant weather conditions, and although the entries were hardly so largo as last year the standard of work put up by some of the dogs was of a very high order, and the spectators seemed keenly interested in the various events. Mr W,‘ M. Wilson, of Glenpark, made a capable and impartial judge, his rulings giving general satisfaction. He was left no easy task in placing some of the winners, only one point separating the first and second dogs in two ©vents. The refreshment stall on the ground was well patronised, and the women in charge deserve every credit for the efficient manner in which they carried out their duties. The oup presented by Mr H. P. Campbell for the best mustering tei n was won by H. WaWron, of Omarama. This proved a most exciting - con test, tho winner gaining the oup by (he narrow margin of four points. iV. Shaw, Cambrian, was runnerup. Having won tho cup for two years in succession, Mr Waldron now the owner of it. A 1?eon-working committee was rcsponsib.c for the various events being run off in good time, and at the conclusion of tho programme a special short pull and yarding event was arranged,, when some fine work was done, tho winner, Mr M'Erlanes Star, giving a finished exhibition. Iho president, Mr F. M. Pyle, in presenting the cup to Mr H. Waldron, referred to the keen interest Mr Waldron had always shown in the club, and thanked the competitors and public for their loyal support in helping to make the dog sl ’ c “ a popular sport in tho district. M'Erlane’s Star 1, A. Stringer s Help 2, u. Donald’s Mack 5. Special Prizes. —Tho president’s prize of two guineas for maiden competitor with host mustering team was won bv J. M'Grogor. Mr H. P. Campbell’s special prize of one guinea for dog making fastest head in the Ijong Pull was won r>y J. Donald. The club’s prize of one guinea for maiden competitor securing most points in Class 4. was "'on by J. M'Gregor, and prize of one guinea for maiden competitor securing most points in Class 1 was won by A. Stringer.
