AMUSEMENTS.
OCTAGON THEATRE. Zano Grey's novels have always had a great popularity, and when dramatised for film purposes they invariably attract large attendances. Tne most recent novel by this well-known author to be screened is “The Border Legion,” which is attracting largo attendances at the Octagon Theatre this week. The story tells of two lovers who become involved in the operations of the Border Legion, a bandit gang, whoso depredations terrify the residents on the border 'of Idaho during the mad rush for gold. The supports comprise comedies and gazettes, and the selections by the Octagon Concert Orchesta add considerably to the enjoyment of the evening’s entertainment. EMPIRE THEATRE. “The Only Woman,” with Norma Talmadgo in the leading role, is proving a strong attraction at the Empire Theatre this week. The story deals with the sacrifice of a young woman who marries a drunken youth in order to save her father from financial ruin. A striking feature of the picture is the elaborate wedding scone, at which 1800 guests are present. Considerable excitement is provided in the wreck scene, when the husband proves that after all he is a real man, and that the girl who loathed him on their marriage day now loves him. The supports are varied and interesting, and the Empire Grand Orchestra renders a choice musical programme. . QUEEN’S THEATRE. “The Riding Kid from Powder River,” the chief film at the Queen’s Theatre this week, is proving a good draw. Tho story tells how a boy avenges tho death of his father. “Challenge,” a Master production, is the second feature. Topicals and comedies are also screened. EVERYBODY’S THEATRE. “Peg o’ My Heart, 1 ’ the delightful play, is proving very popular at Everybody’s Theatre this week. Miss Laurette Taylor plays the title role in a most convincing manner. A strong supporting list is also provided.
