RAIN IN HAWKE'S BAY
LOW COUNTRY FLOODED.
SHIPPING MOVEMENTS RESUMED.
(Peb United Press Association.) NAPIER, August 1. After 10 days' rough w-eathor, during which 3.33 in of rain foil, the rivers rose rapidly yesterday. A considerable amount of water overflowed on to the low-lying country between Napier, Meeanee, and Pakovvliai but the rivers fell considerably during the night, and l the danger of a serious flood is averted for the present. The sea has moderated considerably, and the Arajiura was berthed this morning and the Tarawera ■ anchored off the breakwater. So far no stock losses are reported. The weather is still threatening.
